Location: Mobile (Manchester/Surrounding Areas)
Salary: £42,000 – £50,000 (D.O.E) per annum (plus overtime opportunities and out-of-hours rates) 
OTE Estimated Earnings: £58,000 – £65,000
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent – Immediate Start Available
 
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Commercial & Domestic Gas Engineer on behalf of an established Facilities Management provider operating across the North West.
 
This role is ideal for an engineer with a strong background in the FM sector, who is confident carrying out maintenance, fault finding, repairs, and installation works across a variety of commercial and domestic environments.
A valid G3 Unvented Cylinders qualification is essential.

The Role
 
The successful candidate will deliver safe, compliant, and high-quality mechanical maintenance services across a diverse client portfolio.
Working independently across multiple sites, you will be responsible for maintaining commercial gas plant, domestic heating systems, and associated mechanical services, ensuring assets remain compliant and operational.
Participation in an out-of-hours call-out rota will be required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), reactive repairs, and installation works on commercial and domestic gas systems.
  • Diagnose faults and repair boilers, heating systems, burners, pipework, and associated plant.
  • Complete minor mechanical and plumbing works where required.
  • Identify and rectify defects and compliance issues.
  • Complete commissioning, seasonal changeovers, and shutdown activities.
  • Produce accurate service reports, certification, and compliance documentation.
  • Utilise CAFM systems and mobile technology to manage workloads and reporting.
  • Liaise professionally with clients, contractors, and site representatives.
  • Support small works projects, surveys, and quotations as required.
  • Ensure all works comply with health and safety legislation and industry standards.

Essential Experience & Qualifications

  • Proven experience working as a Commercial Gas Engineer within the Facilities Management sector.
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills on commercial and domestic heating systems.
  • Experience managing workloads independently across multiple sites.
  • Gas Safe Registered.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Competent using CAFM systems and mobile technology.

Additional Essential Qualification

  • G3 Unvented Cylinders Certificate

Engineering Qualification

  • NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds in Mechanical or Heating Engineering (or equivalent)

Desirable Qualifications

  • IPAF
  • PASMA
  • Additional HVAC or Mechanical Services qualifications
  • Experience with low-carbon technologies such as heat pumps and hybrid systems
  • Experience working within education, healthcare, public sector, transport, or social housing environments
