We are recruiting on behalf of an established and growing roofing contractor seeking an experienced Managing Director to lead the business through its next phase of growth and development.
 
This is a rare opportunity for an ambitious and commercially minded leader with a strong background in the roofing industry to take overall responsibility for business performance, operational delivery, customer relationships, and strategic growth.
 
The successful candidate will have significant roofing sector experience and a proven track record of leading teams, managing contracts, and driving business success.

The Role
Reporting to the business owners, the Managing Director will be responsible for the overall leadership and management of the company, ensuring projects are delivered safely, profitably, and to the highest standards.
You will oversee all aspects of operations, commercial performance, client relationships, business development, and team leadership while driving continuous improvement across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the business.
• Develop and implement strategic plans to support sustainable growth.
• Drive sales, business development, and client retention activities.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and key stakeholders.
• Oversee project delivery, ensuring contracts are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
• Monitor financial performance, profitability, and business KPIs.
• Manage and develop operational, commercial, and site-based teams.
• Ensure compliance with health & safety legislation and industry regulations.
• Identify opportunities for expansion, diversification, and process improvement.
• Represent the business professionally at industry and client meetings.

Essential Requirements

• Significant experience within the roofing industry.
• Previous leadership experience at Director, Managing Director, Operations Director, Commercial Director, or Senior Management level.
• Strong commercial and financial acumen.
• Proven ability to lead and develop teams.
• Experience managing roofing projects, contracts, and client relationships.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong understanding of health & safety and compliance requirements.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable Experience

• Experience within commercial roofing, industrial roofing, or building envelope systems.
• Knowledge of public sector, local authority, education, healthcare, or FM contracts.
• Experience leading business growth initiatives.
• Experience managing P&L performance and company budgets.
